Description

This original calendar is one of a series of 11 different "fallen pink panties" paintings created by Arthur E. Frahm [Art Frahm]. This is the largest known print version at over 33 inches tall [total length], and still has the protective top and bottom crimped metal edges. The calendar is protected with a simple but elegant solid maple frame and quality museum glass. The last of the monthly calendar pages [December, 1961] is still stapled in place. Around the 3 staples at the top of the calendar page are the remains of the other monthly pages when they were torn off.

The setting is a country location where a lovely young lady with bright red hair has discovered her car has a flat tire. As evident by the bumper jack lying off at an angle, it's clear this lady is having a great deal of difficulty attempting to change the tire. And of course like all of Art Frahm's creations, she is experiencing one of the worst possible situations: Her pink panties have suddenly lost the elasticity in the waist band, and have fallen to her ankles. Suddenly a gust of wind has begun to raise her skirt high in the air!  In addition a tow truck driver has just arrived, and is looking directly at the lady's backside just as her panties fall and the wind lifts her dress high in the air!

Mr. Frahm has left it up to the viewer to imagine if in the next few seconds, that gust of air just might blow her skirt further above her waist, and reveal everything!

Here is what the website Art & Popular Culture has to say about the artist: "Art Frahm (1907-1981) was an American painter of campy pin-up girls and advertising. Frahm lived in Chicago, and was active from the 1950s to 1960s. Today he is best known for his “ladies in distress” pictures involving beautiful young women whose panties mysteriously flutter to the ground in public situations, often causing them to spill their bag of groceries!. In one of Frahm’s noted idiosyncratic touches, celery is often depicted . . . . His advertising art included works for Coca-Cola and Coppertone."

Today, Art Frahm's calendars are very difficult to find, and rarely come up for sale [Especially the large ones as seen her]. This was discovered [along with 5 more examples of Art Frahm's calendars] in the original Shelbyville, Tennessee town as shown in the calendar, over 20 years ago, and has been in my private collection ever since. It is the last framed one I have to sell. As it was never in direct sunlight, the colors are still vibrant. Reasonable offers will always be considered.

PRICE INCLUDES SHIPPING IN THE 48 CONTINENTAL STATES. I will use a plywood covering over the front to try to keep the shipping company from bending the package, and it will be protected by bubble-wrap.
