Walter Wellman was a postcard artist with a sense of humor, an independent streak, and a love of drawing women, from the long, thin, high-haired beauties he drew in the 1910s to these rounder forms he took up as fashions changed in the 1930s.  What looks like a weed growing under the kicked-back leg of our hero is his signature, printed into the picture of this man taking on a big responbsibility.  Produced in the 1930s or thereabouts, never mailed, and in excellent shape
