Description:  This auction is for a classic vintage male nude magazine called “David and His Friends” Volume 1.  It contains two photo-illustrated stories, featuring David August.  The first story takes place in David’s San Franciso apartment, where he gets it on with his very handsome married bisexual friend, Tom Barr.  The second story takes place in Los Angeles, where David picks up Peter Rawi at a gay bar.  The adventures of David August continue in Volumes 2 and 3, which I am also selling in separate auctions this week.  

There is no information about publisher or year of publication, however, the rear inside cover has an advertisement for Le Salon of San Francisco.  The magazine appears to be from the 1970s based on the jargon in the text (groovy, mod) and style of hair and clothing.

The full-size magazine is approximately 8.5” x 11”.  The magazine contains 48 pages including both covers.  Eight pages (including front and back covers) are in color; the rest are black and white.  As mentioned above, the rear inside cover contains an advertisement.

Condition: The magazine is in very good condition with normal cover wear from handling.
